Meet Peter
I’m Peter, founder of Layers of Light, a London-based lighting consultancy with a global reach. Over three decades I’ve partnered with architects, designers, AV consultants, and clients worldwide to craft lighting that’s thoughtful, engaging, and memorable – driven by curiosity, care, and a belief in light’s emotional power.

Glow and tell
I’ve been lighting up spaces since 1996. My journey’s taken me around the World, working with creative design studios big and small, and clients who love good lighting as much as I do.

A bright idea
It all began at university; with a children’s lamp I designed – one that smiled and lit up to greet you each morning. It won a competition, lit a spark (pun intended), and I’ve been chasing the glow ever since.

What sets me apart
Coming from a product design background, I don’t just think about how light looks – I consider how it feels, how it behaves, and how it plays with various materials. With my many years of experience I know how light can affect peoples’ mood, their behaviour and give each space its’ own identity. It’s sensory storytelling with a technical twist.

Collaboration is everything. I love working with interior designers, architects, AV consultants – anyone who’s up for creating something extraordinary together.

Lighting isn’t just the cherry on top, it defines how a space feels, functions, and leaves its mark. When thoughtfully designed, it shapes atmosphere, guides behaviour, and creates lasting impressions. That’s why I obsess over the small details – because in lighting, they’re never small.
